DEEPFAKE

Deepfake of your child — do this now

AI-generated nude images of your minor child are illegal under federal law. Preserve, report, remove, support.
Take It Down Act — Platforms must remove non-consensual intimate images (including AI deepfakes) within 48 hours of a valid request. Criminal provisions active now; platform takedown obligation begins:
31 days — May 19

Do this, in this order

  1. Screenshot every instance with URLs, usernames, timestamps visible. Note the platform each appeared on.
  2. Do not delete or repost. Sharing "to warn people" spreads it further and can make you a participant in distribution.
  3. Submit to Take It Down (takeitdown.ncmec.org) — free, for images of anyone under 18. Creates a cryptographic fingerprint so participating platforms (Meta, TikTok, Snap, Reddit, Pornhub, OnlyFans, Bumble, Discord, Yubo, and more) block uploads without the image itself being shared.
  4. Report on each platform hosting the image. Look for "non-consensual intimate imagery" or "child sexual abuse material" report options — not just "inappropriate content," which routes to lower-priority queues.
  5. Report to NCMEC CyberTipline (1-800-843-5678 or cybertipline.org). If the image depicts a minor, this is a federal crime — DOJ's position since 2023 is that fully synthetic AI CSAM is prosecutable under federal law.
  6. File a police report in person at your local station. Bring your screenshots on a device. Request a case number. This is evidence for school discipline and any civil suit.
  7. Take It Down Act 48-hour removal obligation goes live 31 days from today (May 19, 2026). Criminal provisions are already active. Takedowns via Take It Down (NCMEC) and platform reporting work now. After May 19, platforms must remove within 48 hours of a valid request — this page will update that day.
  8. If the image was created or distributed at a school — file a Title IX complaint with the district. This is sexual harassment under federal law. Escalate to WI Department of Public Instruction and US Department of Education Office for Civil Rights if the district is unresponsive.
  9. Wellness check your child. Deepfake victimization carries suicide risk similar to traditional sextortion. 988 is available 24/7.

Do not

  • Do not share the image — not to your lawyer, not to the school administrator, not to another parent. Describe it, provide the screenshot through proper channels.
  • Do not confront the creator directly. Let law enforcement identify and pursue.
  • Do not accept a school's "boys will be boys" or a vague "we're investigating" with no timeline. This is potentially a felony and a Title IX matter.
  • Do not delete the images from your phone until law enforcement has copies — ask specifically how they want them preserved.

What the law says

Federal: AI-generated sexually explicit images of minors are prosecutable as CSAM (DOJ position since 2023, affirmed in multiple convictions). The PROTECT Act covers this. The Take It Down Act adds specific criminal penalties for knowingly publishing non-consensual intimate imagery — including AI deepfakes — up to 3 years for images of minors, 30 months for threats.

Wisconsin: Wis. Stat. § 942.09 covers non-consensual distribution of intimate representations and has been expanded to cover AI-generated depictions. Wis. Stat. § 948.05 covers sexual exploitation of a child. Both are felonies.

Schools: Creating or distributing a sexualized image of a classmate is sexual harassment under Title IX regardless of whether the image is real or AI-generated. Schools must investigate and take corrective action.

Scope

A WIRED / Indicator joint investigation published April 2026 documented 90+ schools and 600+ student victims globally. Actual incidence is higher; most cases go unreported. Over 100 "nudify" or "undress" sites operate actively, with the largest receiving 5+ million monthly visits. Payment processors are the most effective current enforcement mechanism — sites lose functionality quickly when Visa/Mastercard/Discover cut off payment.

For your kid

They did not do this. The image being AI-generated does not make it less real to them. Classmates' reactions will feel crushing. Professional trauma counseling is not optional — schedule it this week. Your pediatrician can usually get you into a clinician faster than a cold call.
